The first thing we know to do is to observe our babies’ behavior, and we are surprised at each thing we notice. We are amazed by the perfection of their little hands, feet, etc. This is the first experience, which brings us great happiness.
Another thing we notice is a baby’s smile and how, when a baby cries, it can mean different things. This is called “baby language,” since it communicates hunger, tiredness, boredom or pain. Dedicated parents quickly learn to read the signals babies give and to satisfy their baby’s specific needs.
We also note their curiosity: they look around, following faces and objects with their eyes. Later, they experiment with their toys—touching, pulling or throwing them—and are surprised at the results. We learn a great deal by observing our children. Now let’s see what’s new.
